About the Program

uMngeni Water Services (UWS) is seeking host employers to mentor a pool of talented young graduates who have recently completed degrees in various disciplines, including Engineering, Science, Finance, Human Resources, Sociology, and Public Administration. These graduates will be placed with host employers for a 12-month internship starting in January 2025 to gain practical work-based learning (WBL) experience.

What UWS Offers:

  • Monthly Stipend: UWS provides graduates a stipend of R7,000 to cover travel and basic needs.
  • Administration: All payments, uniform provision, and logistical arrangements will be managed by UWS, ensuring no financial burden on host employers.
  • Graduate Database: Host employers can access a curated database of pre-recruited graduates to select candidates who best meet their needs.

Host Employer Responsibilities:

  1. Mentorship and Supervision: Provide structured mentorship and guidance.
  2. Performance Management: Ensure graduates adhere to workplace standards, arrive punctually, and integrate with the company’s culture.
  3. Optional Stipend Top-Up: Employers may choose to supplement the stipend at their discretion.

Work-Based Learning (WBL):

This program bridges academic knowledge with hands-on experience, enhancing the graduates’ employability and providing host employers with enthusiastic, trainable talent.
